Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment

- Purpose:
To help you if you’ve been directly affected by this declared disaster. If the disaster caused major damage to your home or a major asset or assets that you own at your home you were seriously injured you’re the immediate family member of an Australian citizen or resident who died or is missing.
- Criteria:
- The is now available for those affected by severe weather and flooding in Western Queensland.
- You can apply if you live in the Local Government Areas of Barcoo Shire Council, Bulloo Shire Council, Longreach Regional Council, Paroo Shire Council, Quilpie Shire Council and Winton Shire Council.
- You have until 29 September 2025 to make a claim
- Amount Available / Cost to Access :
A lump sum payment provides $1,000 to each eligible adult and $400 for each eligible child.

Rural Aid Financial Assistance

- Purpose:
Rural Aid assists farmers facing various disasters, right across Australia.
- Criteria:
- farmers who have been negatively impacted by a declared natural disaster or other exceptional industry-specific occurrences
- (NB applications will remain open for each recognised disaster for four months from the date of the disaster or until funding is exhausted)

Rural Aid Counselling Support
- Delivered by:
Rural Aid
- Purpose:
Rural Aid offers free, confidential counselling to farmers and their family. They conduct counselling at the place that best suits, on farm, in town or over the phone. Rural Aid counsellors are professionally trained to help support people navigate all kinds of life challenges but come with an understanding of the unique needs of rural people.
- Criteria:
Farmers, farming family members and farm workers can all contact this number to gain information about counselling, gain support and complete our intake process to be linked in with a counsellor.
- Amount Available / Cost to Access :
All services are free and the person does not have to be a primary producer. Farmers are supported with practical strategies to help them get back on track.
