Town and Maintenance Officer - Two Positions
The Roles
We are currently looking to expand our team to deliver in the ongoing restoration and maintenance of our infrastructure for our community.
We are currently seeking highly motivated individuals to join our Town and Rural team in two x full-time roles. The roles are located in Jundah and Windorah.
Jundah
We are seeking a Town and Maintenance Ganger who will have the primary responsibility to oversee the daily operations within our Water Treatment Plant and oversee the Town and Maintenance Officers.
Windorah
We are seeking a Town and Maintenance Officer who will have a strong focus on parks and gardens and additional responsibility supporting water operations, Airport and other infrastructure as required.
These are hands-on roles that are suited to someone who enjoys diversity and autonomy in their tasks daily activities.
About you
You will come strong sense of pride in maintaining critical assets for the community and a can-do attitude and a commitment to WHS standards.
You will possess the following as a minimum:
- White Card (or ability to obtain at commencement of employment)
- Current C Drivers licence
- Current National Police Check
- Minimum 1 year experience in Horticulture/ Gardening / Landscaping / Water Treatment Operations or similar
- Previous manual handling experience

Barcoo Shire Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Trainee Operations Administrator, with a strong focus on working alongside Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) programs and projects.
This is an entry level role designed to provide hands on experience, structured learning, and career development within local government.
About the Role
As a Trainee Operations Administrator, you will support the Operations team in delivering road, transport, and infrastructure services aligned with DTMR standards and requirements. You’ll gain valuable exposure to how councils manage road networks, compliance, reporting, and contractor coordination.
This role combines on-the-job training with formal study, giving you the opportunity to earn while you learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Operations and Infrastructure teams

Rural Lands Officer
The Role
As our Rural Lands Officer, you will play a key role in managing and protecting council controlled land while supporting local landholders, producers, and stakeholders. You’ll be involved in everything from pest and weed management to compliance, education, and land sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of the Barcoo Shire Biosecurity Plan and a three-to-five-year Barcoo Pest Management Strategy.
- Communicate and engage with regulators, rural landowners and the community to support good practice land management and resilience.
- Implement and monitor pest and weed control programs in line with legislation.
- Practical coordination and management of strategy and programs, specifically baiting programs, in cooperation with regulators, landowners, station hands and the community.
- Provide advice and support to landholders on best practice land management.
- Undertake inspections and ensure compliance with relevant Acts and local laws.
- Repair and maintenance of bores and windmills.
- Stock watering facilities.
- Engage with the community through education and awareness programs.
- Maintain accurate records, reporting, and mapping data.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is practical, self-motivated, and thrives in a remote environment.
You will have:
- Experience in agriculture, land management, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of pest and weed control practices and relevant Queensland legislation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- A current driver’s licence.
- Current or ability to obtain Agricultural Chemical Distribution Certificate (ACDC).
- Current or ability to obtain Fluoroacetate (1080) licence.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Current or ability to obtain a Queensland Firearms licence.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

Final Trim Grader Operator
Final Trim Grader Operator
The role
After experiencing significant floods in early 2025 we are now ready to expand our team to deliver in the ongoing restoration and maintenance of our infrastructure for our community.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Operational Works team to help us deliver in the detection and rectification of faults and defects. In this role you will be responsible for operating a grader to ensure you achieve a precise final trim across a range of road construction and maintenance projects. You will assist in ensuring compliance with WHS obligations, council procedures and work collaboratively within a small team to meet project deadlines.
About you
You will come with demonstrated experience in operating a final trim grader in civil construction and or local government. You will possess a can-do attitude and a commitment to WHS standards.
You will possess the following as a minimum:
- White Card
- HC Drivers licence
- Statement of Attainment in Civil Construction Grader Operations
- Traffic Management
- Experience in final trim grading
