At its most recent meeting on 17 November 2021, Council adopted its revised Student Bursary Policy.  The policy aims to provide a framework to financially support long-term residents of the Barcoo Shire who are commencing their trade or tertiary qualifications.  To be eligible for a student bursary, applicants must:

  • be a current Barcoo Shire resident and have been so for at least 7 years and
  • not previously received a Barcoo Shire Council student bursary and
  • be 15 to 30 years old at the time of application and
  • be enrolled or accepted by a recognised tertiary education institution or Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to commence one of the qualifications listed below:
    • Diploma or Advanced Diploma
    • Trade Apprenticeship
    • Bachelor Degree

(Note - qualifications listed in the Australian Qualifications Framework which are higher or lower than those listed above are not eligible for the bursary)

If you or someone you know may meet these criteria and seek financial assistance from Council to undertake these studies, please complete the attached application form and return it to Council (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or PO Box 14, Jundah 4736).  The application form should be read in conjunction with the attached Student Bursary Policy.

Please note, by completing this application form, there is no guarantee that applicants will be successful in obtaining a student bursary.  Awarding a student bursary is at the sole discretion of the Council and subject to budget allocation.
