History

Barcoo Shire's history dates back to 1877 when the first mail was delivered by coach.
The Barcoo Shire Museum and the spectacular ruins located in the shire tell Barcoo's special story.
Barcoo Shire History Book
'Their Promised Land', by Peter and Shelia Forrest, is a history of the people and places of the Barcoo Shire.
Available through the Barcoo Shire Council Administration Office in Jundah, and the Visitor Information Centres in Stonehenge, Jundah and Windorah.
