The Position:

To assist in the construction of Shire and State roads as a competent and professional plant operator, with high level skills in the detection and rectification of faults and defects. Further, to work as a contributing member of the Operational Works team towards achieving goals as stated in the Corporate Plan, whilst upholding the principles and standards of the Council and displaying respect for all members of the community.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Current driver’s licences (HC) heavy combination) or (MC) multi combination preferred or ability to obtain licences are required;
  • A Certificate III in Civil Construction, preferred;
  • Safety General Induction (White) Card;
  • Willing to obtain a Working with Children ‘Blue Card’ to work with or supervise people less than
    eighteen (18) years of age if required; and
  • A minimum of three years demonstrated ability in construction and maintenance activities related to local government operations would be an advantage, although training is always available.

The welcoming three outback towns of Windorah, Jundah and Stonehenge can all be easily accessed via sealed roads and are located within a leisurely drive to the major towns of Longreach or Quilpie.

Barcoo Shire is the gateway to Birdsville, Bedourie, Innaminka, Quilpie, Longreach and Winton to the north.
