Councillors have agreed to extend the rate discount period. Currently if rate payers pay their rates in full by 22 April, they will receive a 10% discount on their rates. Given the significant impact of the flood, they have agreed to extend the rate discount for payments in full to Friday 20 June 2025.

The application of the rate discount is conditional on the following:

The discount will apply to general rates, water utility charges and waste management utility charges provided that:

1. all the rates and charges are paid by 20 June 2025.

2. all other rates and charges appearing on the rate notice (that are not subject to a discount) are paid within the extension period

3. all other overdue rates and charges relating to the rateable assessment are paid by 20 June 2025.

As rate discount period closes prior to the Council meeting the Council have agreed that to the Officers recommendation and they will ratify/endorse the decision at the Council meeting on Monday 28 April.

Carcass Disposal

DPI - Short guide for livestock carcass disposal during an emergency or significant weather event

• Council can provide assistance with animal carcass disposal.
• Any deceased animals must be disposed of safely.

Barcoo Shire Council is about to start the development of its new five-year Corporate Plan, which is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025. The corporate plan is an important document in that it will set out Council’s strategic direction and help inform Council’s annual budgets for the five-year period.
